As you know, from March 13th to March 16th hundreds of veterans of the war in Iraq and Afghanistan will gather to give public testimony about their experiences. This important event named Winter Soldier: Iraq & Afghanistan, after the 1971 gathering of Vietnam veterans, will offer the people of this country the opportunity to hear the realities of the war in Iraq and Afghanistan from those who have experienced these occupations firsthand.
In order to make sure that these stories are heard, Iraq Veterans Against the War is contacting local public access stations in many parts of the country to request that they carry all or part of Winter Soldier: Iraq & Afghanistan, which will be broadcast on Free Speech TV.
Below is a list of the locations of the stations IVAW is contacting. If you are from one these communities and would be able to contact them on behalf of Winter Soldier, please contact Sofia Santana at [email protected] - and be sure to contact her as quickly as possible. Sofia will send you the correct contact information and a guide to assist you in making the phone call. If you are in a city that has a public access station but is not on this list, please also get in touch with Sofia if you can work on this effort.
There are now also three radio public service announcements for Winter Soldier that are ready to be downloaded and played by stations across the country. Please forward the links to stations, and call and ask for them to be played in the next two weeks. You can get them off the IVAW website at: www.ivaw.org/wintersoldier/resources
*** On another note: please make sure that any and all local activities related to the 5th anniversary -- including Winter Soldier viewings -- are listed on the 5yearstoomany calendar. Just click here to post your events: http://events.unitedforpeace.org/5yearstoomany/signup
Thanks everyone!
peace,
